QUALIFICATIONS TO BECOME A MISSOURI NOTARY PUBLIC

In order to become a notary public in Missouri, you must meet the following requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be able to read and write English
• Must not have had a notary commission revoked during the past 10 years 

 

If you are a legal resident of Missouri, you must meet theses additional requirements:
• Be a registered voter of the county where applying for commission, or a resident alien of the United States (must submit copy of permanent resident card)
• Must apply for a commission in the county you reside

 

Non-residents may also apply for a Missouri notary commission by meeting these additional qualifications:
• Must work in the state of Missouri and use the notary commission in the course of your employment
• Must have a business address in the county where applying for commission
• Must authorize the secretary of state as your agent and representative to accept service of any process or service of any notice or demand required or permitted by law to be served upon you
 

 

 

STEPS TO BECOME A MISSOURI NOTARY PUBLIC

Notary Products

Select your notary package, complete the interactive application process, select any additional products you desire and submit your payment online. Your notary forms and instructions will be available for download at the end of checkout. Payment by check not available online. 

 

Notary Education

Complete the required Missouri Notary Education Course. Required by law for all applicants.

 

 

 

Send

Print, sign, and send your completed notary forms to Notary Public Underwriters Agency. We'll deliver your forms to the State for approval.

 

 

Swearing In

Upon approval, we will email your bond and instructions for the swearing-in process. Please be aware that you will not be recognized as a notary public until you complete the swearing-in process.

 

 

Commissioned

We will mail your customized stamp and other supplies within 3 business days after we receive notification of commission from the state. All Notary Public Underwriters Agency stamps and seals come with a Lifetime Guarantee.
