Perception is Reality: Your Notary Business Needs Reviews

You’ve set up your notary business, and used our Social Media Tips blogs along with your other research to develop a social media plan for your company. reviews You’ve set up your websitechecked mark Created a company Facebook page. checked mark Created a company LinkedIn page. checked mark Started pinning on Pinterest. checked mark Put your company on Yelpchecked mark But now what? You have no reviews coming in, so nothing to authenticate you as the great notary public you know you are. Maybe you have a few reviews, but if you’re only receiving reviews sporadically, turn off the dates associated with the reviews on your website. This way they don’t appear as random, but as more of a cohesive set. To build up your reviews, and thus, your reputation, ask the people you are completing notarizations for if they would be willing to visit your site and write a review. If you have business cards, ask them to go to the website listed on the card, or you can ask them how they found out about you and ask them to use the same medium to write about their experience. It’s up to you if you want to target one site to build up reviews and comments, or if you want to scatter them out. We recommend you focus on the medium most people say they found you with (whether it be through your website or through a social media site). If majority of people are saying they found you through Facebook, you should focus on building up your likes and reviews there first and then move toward other platforms. You can also tweet about your experiences with notarial acts (i.e. “Booked solid today, but had a great day of meeting new people, can’t wait to help more people in the Leon area!” or “#Tallahassee I’m your notary on the go.”) Reviews allow consumers piece of mind in their decision to use you—if other people were satisfied with your work, they’ll be more confident in your abilities going into the meeting. They also ensure you have some self- reflection. There is always room to grow, and reviews sometimes help point out the areas we should focus on and the areas we are excelling. Don’t be tempted to create fake reviews. We know the temptation is always lingering, but you as a consumer know, you can usually tell when a review is authentic or not. Furthermore, it calls into question the legitimacy of your site; if you have fake reviews listed it becomes counteractive. Those face-to-face interactions you have every day are the best time to get personal reviews, so you know how you can improve for your next notarial act. If they end with a review on your website even better.
