Options are fun, but only when you understand what you’re choosing from. Alabama allows their notaries several ways they can present their seal and expiration date on a document. As an Alabama notary public, you can use an Expiration Date Stamp with a seal or embosser or an all-in-one Notary Stamp.

The all-in-one Notary Stamp includes the expiration date, as well as your commission name and seal. It can used alone.

The Expiration Date Stamp only includes your expiration date. If you choose the Expiration Date Stamp, you must use it in conjunction with the embosser or a seal stamp which does not have your expiration date.

Your other option as an Alabama notary is to use a Notary Embosser. The Notary Embosser can be used by itself. The embosser only carries the seal and your commission name, but, lawfully, you can write in your expiration date to accompany it. We recommend pairing it with the Expiration Date Stamp; the stamp provides an easy-to-use method, as well as the added benefit of having a constant reminder of your expiration date. The stamp also provides a clean, professional look to accompany the embosser. With the Expiration Date Stamp or the Notary Seal Stamp, you can choose from a variety of different case colors for your stamp-- this will change the color of the area around the outside of your stamp. The Rectangular Self-Inking Alabama Notary Stamp has 12 color options, while the Alabama Self-Inking Notary Expiration Date Stamp has 7 color options. All of the Alabama stamps default to black ink, if you wish to change the color of the ink in your stamp, please contact our customer care department at 800.826.1626.

Alabama offers their notaries options to fulfill their preferences, but be aware of the different regulations for each option—you want to ensure you are adhering to notary public law.
