QUALIFICATIONS TO RENEW YOUR TEXAS NOTARY COMMISSION
In order to renew as a notary public in Texas, you must meet the following requirements:
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be a legal resident of the State of Texas
- Texas escrow agents who are residents of an adjoining state are eligible for appointment as a Texas notary
• Have not received a conviction for a crime involving moral turpitude or a felony
• Complete notary education and pass the notary exam provided by the Texas Secretary of State's Office (As of 1/1/26)
