Tennessee’s House Bill No. 2387 has passed.
The two major changes the legislation enacts are record books are now required for all Tennessee notaries, and the state has enacted a new fee structure. Notaries are now free to charge a “reasonable fee” for their public service. Although, the state does not clarify what constitutes a reasonable fee. These changes will not take effect until October 1, 2014. To read the full Bill, please read this State of Tennessee document.
