Revised 6/24/25
Growing your notary business takes more than just having a commission — it requires smart, consistent advertising. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to expand your client base, knowing where and how to promote your services can make all the difference. Below are some practical ways to successfully advertise your notary business.
Social Media
Did you know that at least 94 percent of the world’s population uses social media every month? So why wouldn’t you use social media as a platform to advertise your notary services? Whether you are a notary signing agent, a notary who performs remote online notarizations, or just a local notary serving your community, platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly known as Twitter), or even LinkedIn are the perfect places to start.
Create a page and display all the ways people can contact you, the services you offer, your hours of operation, the cities or towns you serve, and even a fee schedule. People often feel an instant connection when they read a bio or see a photo, so do not forget to add these as well.
Notary Locators
There are numerous notary locators and platforms that offer paid options to post your information. Get listed! Make sure your information appears on as many of these sites as possible. Just like with social media, you should include your services, hours of operation, areas you serve, fees, a short bio, and more. It never hurts to get your name out there.
In-Person Networking
Notaries often overlook the power of meeting someone in person. While online profiles and social media make you accessible to more people in different locations, in-person networking often leaves a more lasting impression. Meeting people is especially important for signing agents, as real estate and escrow companies like to work with people they know and trust. Real estate is all about personal relationships.
Get to know some of the real estate agents in your area. Ask your local bank how they find their signing agents for mortgage deals. Make the effort to introduce yourself to businesses that might need your services.
Tell All of Your Friends
When you begin this career path, be sure to let your friends and family know about your plans are and how anyone needing your services can get reach with you. Never underestimate the power of a friend-of-a-friend referral — it can be one of your best sources of business.
