You still need to record the type of identification presented by the signer, just not the information pertaining to it. You must still enter the signer’s address as well. The record book is still a tool for the notary to limit liability and to have as a reference for all of the information pertaining to that notarial act. Texas has made the change hoping to help put a stop to identification theft. It protects the people you give your notary services to; for their information can no longer be stolen if a copy of your record book is obtained by someone.
