Many times these rules cause issues, and people try to push the “who’s gonna know” rule. Especially in the work place, co-workers or bosses may ask you to notarize a document for them that others have already signed: remember you will be the one that has to deal with the consequences. According to Texas code, the document should always be signed in your presence with proper identification.
