How To Successfully Advertise Your Notary Business

Social Media

These days you can’t escape social media-- it will be a large aspect of any business’ advertising. Setup a Facebook company page, a twitter, and a LinkedIn page. Be active on social media. You can use Twitter to send updates about where you are and if you’re free for a signing. You can insert funny photos from throughout your day of travel for signings or describe difficult signings. Social media helps put a sense of personality into your brand. Through these sites you can not only promote your services to people in your community, but you can also use them to network with fellow notaries and signing agents.

Online Profiles

There are numerous notary forums and sites where you can post a profile. Signing agent companies also usually have notary profiles. Do not just sign up for the site and create an account that only lists your name-- complete your profile. Put in your experience. How long have you been a notary? What county do you work in? What is the best phone number to reach you at? Include any relevant information that will help you stand out and give people an idea of your business. You can also touch of your experiences outside of the notary world that help make you a better notary. For instance, did you work in customer service for 20? That could be a tidbit to add into your “About Me” which illustrates your mindset of putting the customer first. Add a picture to your profiles. People are more likely to select a profile with an accompanying picture in an online search.

In-Person Networking

Notaries often forget the power of meeting someone in person. Though, online profiles and social media sites will make you accessible to more people, you can make more lasting impressions face-to-face. In-person networking is important as a signing agent, for real estate and escrow companies like to meet people. Real Estate is all about personal relationships. Get to know some of the real estate agents in your area, ask your local bank how they find their signing agents for mortgage deals. Make the effort to introduce yourself to businesses. Get out and about and meet new people.

Joining Local Community Groups

Join your local groups. Becoming a member of your local organizations is a great way to network. Are there meetings for Young Professionals? For lawyers in your area? A real estate club? Think outside of the box for the kinds of organizations that can help you. Some larger organizations also lend your business credibility and exposure. The Chamber of Commerce or the Better Business Bureau are recognized and reliable organizations. We know some of these investments can be expensive, but they are just that – investments; these purchases will help your business in the long run. It never hurts to try them out.

Tell All of Your Friends

When you start this career path, be sure you be telling all of your friends and family. There are many a friend-of-a-friend connections. If someone ever asks them for a notary or a signing agent, they know to suggest you. You never know who your friends know. By telling everyone in your life that you have embarked on this career path, they will be able to suggest your services.
