How do I verify that the expiration date on my notary stamp is correct?

That's a great question, because a notary public is solely responsible for the accuracy of all the information about themselves that appears on their notary stamp or notary embossing seal (crimper).

The dates your commission starts and ends are on your official certificate or record.  "Notary commission certificate" is commonly used to describe this official document or record, because many states literally provide their notaries public with a formatted document ranging in size from a credit card to a full sheet of paper, depending on the state.

This notary commission certificate provides the notary's official name as commissioned, beginning and ending dates of the notary's commission term, the U.S. state (and if applicable, the county) that issued the notary's commission and, when applicable, whether the notary has additional authority such as performing electronic notarial acts and/or remote online notarizations.

By the way, a good notary stamp provider will always ask for a copy of a notary's commission certificate before ever making a notary stamp.  That's standard procedure for Notary Public Underwriters.  We also take multiple, additional steps to ensure that any notary stamp we make accurately reflects the notary's commission information--a guarantee of quality to accompany the lifetime guarantee on our notary stamps and seals.
