Texas notaries public received welcome recognition of their value and expertise with a new, notarization fee increase that took effect on September 1, 2023.
Now, Texas notaries may charge $10 for each of the most common notarial acts the law authorizes them to perform, including the two performed far more often than any others—acknowledgments and verifications on oath or affirmation (some call these “jurats”).
An acknowledgment or verification on oath or affirmation is performed when a person’s signature on a document requires the assurances that only a commissioned notary public can add to a document signing.
Texas’ new $10 notarial-act fee is the first increase in many years for the Lone Star State’s notaries. It also creates financial opportunity for side-gig-minded people who can see themselves “going mobile” with their notary tools to perform notarizations for the general public.
In fact, during the height of 2020’s pandemic crisis, many U.S. workers stationed at home instead of at their bricks-and-mortar workplaces became notaries public, then earned additional income by accepting appointments to perform notarizations. Some of these new notaries were successful enough—and happier being their own boss—that they carved out a new career working solely as a “mobile” notary public.
For a modest investment, anyone meeting the qualifications to become a Texas notary can apply now and begin their new path toward a fulfilling occupation as a mobile notary public. Let Notary Public Underwriters show you how simple it is to enhance your income and work experience by becoming a Texas notary public!
