Oklahoma’s Senate Bill 1266 hardens the Sooner State’s notary public laws by adding imprisonment in the county jail for up to one year for the crime of pretending to have expertise in giving legal advice on immigration or citizenship matters. 

The new law also clarifies fine amounts and provides the possibility of a convicted person being penalized with jail time, a fine or both.
